About the Flash CMS Framework

Welcome the Turtlebite Flash CMS Framework

Are you a web designer who is in love with Adobe Flash? You design and develop flash websites and are looking for a content management system for your flash projects where you don’t want to make any compromises? Than maybe you have come to the right place.

This framework is for you if…:

  • you are familiar with flash, actionscript, (some PHP and MySQL would also be good, but not required)
  • you want total control over text (textfield size, fonts, font size, color, leading etc.)
  • you want total control over what your clients can edit (every single textfield, picture upload etc.)
  • your client who is using the CMS should not mess up your design

This framework is NOT for you if…:

  • you are new to flash and actionscript
  • you are looking for a front end full featured solution, where you can create websites within the browser
  • your clients should be able to customize the menu structure
  • your clients should be able to add/remove content pages
  • you are looking for ready-to-go gadgets/gimmicks like calendar, ticker, photo gallery etc.

How does it work?

The Turtlebite Flash CMS Framework uses PHP (version >= 4) to load and save data from a MySQL Database (version >= 4.1). The files are organized in 3 folders: config (this is the place where you define everything), data (here will all your uploaded files be) and login (in this folder are all the SWFs and PHP files, the whole framework. You don’t have to bother about these files at all).

Reduced to the minimum

The Framework is programmed in Actionscript 2, but as it is a back end solution, your final website can be in AS3 without problems.
The main concern while developing this CMS was design and control over it: the end user should only be able to edit what he/she is allowed to edit, not more and not less. It concentrates on the core features: editing text, uploading files and resizing pictures. The only FLA you have to edit is fonts.swf. In your final website you just tap the database and do with the data what you want.

Philosophy of the CMS

  • Define pictures (size, position) and textfields (size, styles, fonts etc.).
  • Define different layouts (for example picture left, textfield right or picture top, textfield below etc.)
  • Organize these layouts in slots
  • Move/copy/delete this slots
